He owned the Suffolk County Bottling Company, harvested ice in the winter, and was an unofficial town record keeper. His collection includes property deeds, mortgage papers and other legal documents from Amityville and the vicinity. The most noteworthy item in the collection from a Jewish historical perspective is the certificate of incorporation for the Breslau Cemetery Hebrew Association established in 1887.
